Christian Riegel

Christian Riegel studied physics and became a Doctor of Natural Sciences in 2018 while working in Geneva, Switzerland. During his studies there, he discovered and fell in love with improvised comedy. She is currently playing and performing with the troupe Allmächd Knud in Nuremburg, Germany. Since 2019, he is a proud member of Erlangen Toastmasters, currently serving as the club’s VPEd. He is a trained life coach and trainer with a passion about creative processes, storytelling, team dynamics, and communication. In short, by day he is a physicist and scientist, by heart an improvisor, trainer, and communicator. He believes that we all deserve our hero’s journey! Good communication might not solve every problem on earth, yet bad communication makes every problem worse.

If that is true, what else? – Make your story alive with coherent storytelling

Christian Riegel

Stories are magical: They let us join us our heroes from the beginning of their journeys until the end, through trials and hardship, through dangers and epic battles. Sticks and stones may break their bones but they shouldn’t break the reality of the story. Writing a coherent story can take a lot of time, effort, and going back-and-forth to tweak some events. But how can this be done in an improvised story? In front of an audience? When all you have to work with it the current moment?
We dive right into this, we look at classical story architecture and then experiment with the tools of improvisation to explore the limits of a reality while avoiding to pop the bubble. This is going to be an interactive hands-on, minds-on, spontaneity-on workshop. As our heroes, we might emerge afterwards with treasures and newfound wisdom.

The Power of Perception: Redefining Life’s Narrative

Nika Mak

“Perception shapes reality.” This timeless quote by William James sets the stage for our self-development session, “The Power of Perception: Redefining Life’s Narrative.” Join me for an enlightening 30 minutes where we’ll explore how fresh angles of view can influence our minds and transform the way we experience life
Following the photographer capturing stunning images and using the same activities we will learn how to master the art of perception and influence our mind with simple steps.
Nothing out of the usual is required, everything that we will use is always with us.
Together, we’ll demonstrate to our brains the magic that can happen when we look at the same thing from multiple angles. Through an engaging activity, “Shift Your Perspective,” we’ll playfully explore different movements and angles, expanding our experience and tricking our minds to see the beauty and be in the moment.
Be an explorer and come to learn to use fresh angles that will lead you to tell your own story in a new way. Show your mindset an example and break free from the confines of conventional thinking and create a narrative that is truly yours.

Steve Miller

Steve joined Toastmasters in 2017 after a disastrous Table Topic-type speech at a very public client event. He continues to improve his impromptu speaking skills and credits his Toastmasters experience with significantly strengthening his presentation, training and coaching activities. And, thanks to a random conversation over coffee with a fellow Toastmaster, he found himself starting along a new professional path of UX Design and web development. Steve comes from the USA and has spent the last 25+ years living in Warsaw, Lisbon, and currently, Nuremberg, Germany, where he divides his time running his freelance business, staying active, Toastmastering, and, of course, clearing clutter!

From Clutter to Capacity

Steve Miller

“The environment always wins” is a coaching principle that impacts each of us. Too often, the environment we put ourselves in holds us back from being our best. Something’s missing, broken, or out of place. There’s too much or too little of something. And whether we are consciously aware of it or not, each of these “somethings” clutters our minds, eating away at our energy and robbing us of the capacity to shine our brightest.
In this fun, interactive blitz workshop, you’ll be introduced to a methodology that is designed to clear some of the clutter, opening up space for some of your more rewarding pursuits! We’ll take a look at how we can identify clutter in two of our key environments – physical and digital. You’ll clear some of it immediately and walk away with a challenge to continue clearing clutter over the following weeks, helping you to create your own winning environment.

Let’s explore together what 12 tools you can employ…

From Reader to Orator

Olga Kutsche

Picture the following – you are reading a great book or article, a real page-turner (or screen-scroller!) and before you know it, an hour has passed! There’s just something about good books that keeps us reading hour by hour, sometimes even all night long. Authors know how to make their books appealing to the public. They use descriptive language, regulate the pace of narration, and choose words to awaken emotions and convey moods. So is there a way to use these techniques to make our speeches more appealing as well? Who better to answer this than experienced Toastmaster, Coach and Ph.D. in American Literature Olga Kutsche? Her answer is a resounding yes, and in this workshop she aims to share how we can do so. Through analysis of curated literary passages and exercises that develop our speechwriting skills, Olga will not only show us how to celebrate great authors from the past, but also to embrace their support in our speaking future.
